DIY: Food-Safe Lace Sugar Crown Cake Toppers

Things you need for this DIY:
❂ metallic lace, I used this and this
❂ 1/4 cup of sugar
❂ glass jars in various sizes

Total time:
15 mins + drying time

When I saw lace crowns start to pop up everywhere, I thought what perfect cake toppers they would make, sans the glue. So here are my food safe, lovely sugar lace crowns.

In a pan melt the sugar with just enough water to cover it. Let it simmer until it becomes syrupy. You can tell it's getting close when the bubbles get bigger and are slow to pop.

Turn the heat off and let the syrup cool for about 30 seconds. Then dip in your lace using chopsticks or tongs.

Take out the lace and place it on a non-stick surface.

When the lace is cool enough to handle, wrap it around your jar. It should stick by itself.

Let the crowns dry until they have hardened. This will vary depending on how long you simmered the sugar.

And done! This would be so beautiful on a wedding cake.
